Disregarding the first and last bits which get you to the towns and stations; I suppose if it wasn't typical it wouldn't be typical. A lot of this route is absolutely wonderful (the pictures illustrate a beautiful canal-side path), but a significant some of it is so shitty it makes me suicidal. Coming into and through Leeds there are places where it is impossible to get a bike and trailer through without extreme effort and/or dismantling your 'rig' The short stretch of motorway built over the path between Woodlesford and Leeds cost at least £200 million to build. For a tiny fraction of that Leeds could have had the best cycleway in the UK, which would attract thousands of commuters and tourists. As it is you'd have to be retarded to cycle into a smart job from Woodlesford on the Trans Pennine Trail (and it has been that way for two decades)
On the other hand, for a recreational trip it is excellent, providing you don't mind been fucked about on the east side of Leeds
